I grew up in Fort Wayne where I graduated from South Side High School, then began my undergraduate work at Indiana Tech. Over the course of my Sophomore year I recognized my true passions lay elsewhere and my future included caring for childbearing women. This began my journey down the path to midwifery. I transferred to the University of Saint Francis where I earned my bachelor’s degree in nursing. After spending my first year as a nurse on the medical unit I transferred to the labor and delivery unit. There, I spent four and a half years working as a labor nurse assisting countless women with their motherhood transformations, before deciding it was time to follow my dreams. I returned to school to become a nurse-midwife. In 2018, I earned a Master’s of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University, and dove into working as a midwife in a hospital-based practice in Elkhart, Indiana. Although my family remained rooted in Fort Wayne, the commute allowed me to broaden my horizons and provided invaluable experience as a new midwife. I have always found a strong foundation in my family and met my husband, Corey, in 2005. Corey is an avid hunter and works as a customer service technician for a bullet manufacturer. In 2012 we were married and eager to start a family. Together we have three children; Cody was born in 2013 with Dr. Stroud, Brandon in 2015 under the care of the Fertility and Midwifery Care Center, and Reagan in 2020 at Holy Family Birth Center with Marianne. My experiences as a birthing mother have helped me to grow both personally and professionally in a way no college course could ever teach. I am passionate about maintaining a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy, and whenever possible. Corey and I share a love for fitness and are active members of a local CrossFit affiliate on a daily and competitive level. I remained active as a CrossFit athlete throughout my pregnancies and plan to advocate for others by working towards my certification as a pregnancy and postpartum athleticism coach. I am also certified in the use of K-Tape for women’s health. It is my hope to help women achieve wellness through pregnancy and guide them through postpartum recovery in a way that lets women experience the miracle of childbirth and feel confident in what their bodies can accomplish.
It has been a blessing and an incredible opportunity to work on the team at FMCC. It is my delight to care for women in and around my hometown as they grow their families.
